Tanggal 23 Nov yang lalu, Bono & The Edge memberikan surprise - sebuah live performance di London’s Union Chapel dengan membawakan 4 lagu: Stay, Desire, Angel of Harlem & Wave of Sorrow.

Sebagai “bintang tamu spesial”, pembawa acara ketika itu, Jo Whiley memperkenalkannya seperti ini:

“a new band with a lot of potential…Dave the guitarist is very nervous…If he makes a mistake forgive him, he’s new. The singer is very shy“

hahahaha… deskripsi yang sangat kocak !
Komentar The Edge sendiri diakhir penampilan mereka, tidak kalah konyol..

“I hope you didn’t notice there were a few mistakes but I was told that was okay… I felt the love.”

Bukan hanya kehadiran mereka yang spesial, tapi juga karena Wave of Sorrow dibawakan secara live. So far, sejauh jariku melakukan googling kesana-kemari.. informasi yang aku peroleh bahwa lagu tersebut memang belum pernah dimainkan secara live.
Lha, emang baru akan di-release kok

Dan diperkuat oleh komentar Bono sebelum membawakannya dihadapan pengunjung Union Chapel saat itu :

Yeah, Adam memang hadir juga disana, menjadi penonton di balcony

WAVE OF SORROW

Lagu yang akan direlease dalam paket deluxe Joshua Tree re-mastered ini mungkin bisa jadi “menu pembuka” bagi para penggemar yang sudah tidak sabar menantikan album baru

Paling tidak, sambil menunggu “waktu” itu tiba, kita bisa menikmati lagu yang belum pernah terdengar sebelumnya.
Komentar Bono mengenai lagu tersebut dalam sebuah wawancara di New York :

“So about 20 years ago we started a tune on ‘The Joshua Tree’ and yesterday we just finished it. This song is based on the experiences that my lovely wife Ali had in Ethiopia“

Menyimak wawancara tersebut, kemudian mendengar lagunya.. maka aku menempatkan keindahan lagu ini serupa dengan Mothers of disappeared. Tentu saja dengan mengesampingkan musiknya terlebih dahulu… karna rekaman Wave of Sorrow yang aku peroleh merupakan potongan rekaman dari wawancara yang aku maksud diatas itu.
Jadi, belum denger versi rekamannya, hehehehe…
